Long Time No Sea

What a brilliant T-Shirt. BORACAY is displayed as the skeleton of a dead fish. Underneath it says "Long Time No Sea". The T-Shirt was found while waiting in Caticlan Airport's departure lounge. Does anyone know where these T-Shirts are sold?

Whoever you ask who has been to Boracay before will tell you just how much it has changed, how many new developments have appeared, how much more traffic there is on the road.

Boracay in a way is too good to be true. Its natural beauty makes it just too tempting for wanting a share of it. First time tourists become regulars, the city's middle and upper class want to relax there for a week-ender, early retirees make this place their own private paradise. With them come the workers who earn their living in hotels, bars and shops. And they all need a place to stay so more and more land is being developed.

The effects are showing now. Areas of the island suffer from frequent flooding. The main road has traffic jams, the tricycle drivers are seen with protective masks against dust and exhaust fumes. Occasionally even an odor of sewage lies over the beach.

Mistakes have been made in the past. But what is worse is that mistakes with respect to sustainable development are still happening. This project is trying to gather people who care, who want to raise a voice of concern about such developments.
